the colin donaldson ceilidh band
biography
I started playing the accordion at the age of eight, attending lessons from Mrs Galea in Kirkcaldy, Fife, a year later my brother started attending lessons too. When I was 13 we started attending the late John Huband's celebrated music school in Muirhead, Dundee, receiving lessons in classical and traditional music.
As a result of playing at a concert in the Usher Hall in Edinburgh my brother and I were lucky enough to get a recording contract with EMI and became one of only a few acts in Scotland to have this. Over the next few years we appeared numerous times on television programmes such as STV's 'Thingummyjig' and Grampian TV's 'Welcome to the Ceilidh' and 'A Touch of Music'.
Currently I have a ceilidh band which regularly features on the BBC's 'Take the Floor' and last November 'topped the bill' at the Highland Accordion and Fiddle Clubs annual 'Highland Showtime'. All the members off the band are accomplished musicians and have experience of playing at many different types of function at home and abroad.
Whether your booking a ceilidh band for a wedding, corporate event or any special occasion we can guarantee that the Colin Donaldson Ceilidh Band will have you dancing the night away.
